As a photographer, I had the unique opportunity to be part of a production of this iconic show at Lindenwood University.
Carrie: The Musical" is filled with powerful scenes and unforgettable characters. From Carrie's telekinetic outbursts to the iconic prom scene, each moment offers a unique challenge for a photographer. The goal is to capture the emotions, intensity, and drama while paying homage to the source material.
Theatrical productions rely heavily on lighting to create atmosphere and mood. Photographing "Carrie: The Musical" meant working with dramatic lighting that accentuates the story's darker undertones. Timing and positioning are crucial to capturing the right moments.
Photography plays a crucial role in preserving the essence of live theater. This show will never be performed this exact way, with this exact cast, crew, and production team. It immortalizes the moments that might otherwise be fleeting, giving them a permanent place in the history of the show.
Capturing a production like Carrie: The Musical was an incredible journey that allowed me to witness the dedication, passion, and artistry of the cast and crew. The experience of capturing this iconic story through the lens was a reminder of the enduring power of storytelling in all its forms. It's a testament to the incredible synergy of theater and photography, both of which have the ability to touch hearts, evoke emotions, and create lasting memories.
